HOW DOES THIS WORK? WHAT HAPPENS IN SESSIONS?
In our first session we will build a relationship, get a clear idea of your main issues, and create a plan. Great plans have goal, so we will develop goals together to obtain the outcomes you desire. Therapy is designed to meet your specific needs. We take an eclectic approach in counseling including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness based strategies, Person-Centered techniques, and EMDR (Difficult to explain, Google it for more info). You will also receive some paperwork before your first appointment.
HOW LONG WILL COUNSELING TAKE?
Everyone’s situation is entirely unique and the length of time someone spends in counseling depends on the individual. Counseling is collaborative and you and your counselor will discuss the frequency and timing of therapy. We will work together to decide on the length of time that best fit your needs. We will start with consistent regular visits to build momentum. Throughout the process we will regularly evaluate progress on goals and adjust frequency and time as needed.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Insurance companies operate on a medical model. Which means they require a diagnosis in order for services to be considered “medically necessary.” Insurance companies don’t consider relationship issues, life transitions, personal development, self-improvement, or existential issues “medically necessary.” We accept all major credit cards and FSA/HSA cards as forms of payment.
